Vigne Guadagno Irpinia Falanghina
Campania, Italy
About the Wine
A newer winery in the Avellino, brothers Giuseppe and Pascuale started Vigne Guadagno in 2010. Still tiny producers who bottle in the cellar of local friends, they produce their white on a tiny cru property within the Greco di Tufo DOCG.
As with all of Guadagno’s wines, terroir is the key for this Falanghina. The vines are planted in 1.5 hectares of the Bonito hills at 350 meters of elevation. The property is in a cooler, more mountainous sector of the Avellino, making for great diurnal range and a longer growing season.
With that, this wine is a bit more serious and refined, with citrus and chalky mineral notes rather than tropical and ripe fruit.
